VOLUNTEERS in Preanes Green have come up with a 'wheelie' good idea to get youngsters involved in a worthwhile activity.Members of Preanes Green Residents' Association, based in the resource centre in Feniton, off Clovelly Road, want to start a cycle repair centre.Centre co-ordinator, Linda Ruffles, wants kind-hearted people to come forward and donate any unwanted bikes which are in good working order. She said: "I would like to start a cycle repair centre out of a garage in the area so children on the estate can have a bike."Youngsters could be taught how to do them up with help from a proper engineer."But we need help from companies who can help us find bikes and fund the project."If we can get this scheme going kids can be active and keep fit. It may also alleviate some antisocial behaviour."When I hear many kids around here do not have a bike it chokes me up."If anyone can help with the project they can contact Linda on 01934 529733.
