Cadbury House Hotel and Health Club & Spa could soon have an extension which would include a further 58 bedrooms.

The leisure complex and accommodation re-opened in June last year after major refurbishment.

If the latest proposals go ahead the number of rooms at the hotel will increase from 72 to 130.

Since the overhaul the venue has been, on average, 79 per cent full with guests and among the VIPs to stay there have been former England manager Sven-Goran Eriksson, X-Factor's Andy Williams, DIY SOS's Nick Knowles and Manchester City Football Club.

More than 120 weddings were held there last year and at least another 100 have been booked in for 2008.

The £17.5million development plan for the site started in 2006 with the opening of the new health club and spa. That was followed by the refurbishment of the main house and then the creation of a new 72-bedroom, four star boutique-style hotel.

The new extension would be the final phase of the transformation.
