POLICE have hailed their bike safety initiative a success.

Police Community Support Officers (PCSO) were at Hutton Moor Leisure Centre on Saturday to advise cyclists on how to stay safe and what precautions they should undertake to ensure their bike is not stolen.

Locks were also on sale to cyclists at a discounted price.

PCSO Heather Searle said: “It was great to meet so many local people and to advise them on how to prevent their bikes being stolen.

“We were also lucky enough to be able to give away for free a number of Bike Shepherd security tags worth £10, which aid the recovery of stolen bikes.”
