An army of motorbikes took to Weston-super-Mare’s streets last week to remember a ‘beautiful’ man.

More than 20 bikers revved their engines outside the town’s crematorium to pay tribute to Matthew Beard, aged 46, who died from cancer less than a month ago.

The lovable biker was described as a ‘kind’, ‘caring’ and ‘beautiful’ man by his family who said they could not have had a better send off.

His cousin Julie Andrews said: “It was wonderful to see so many people attend and it made the funeral so amazingly personal.

“It was passionate and fun and I think we did him proud.”

Matthew was well known to his neighbours and community as someone who volunteered to help anyone in need.

A Harley-Davidson lead the procession with a hearse attached as a side car. Matthew’s brother Chris took his final ride with him like they had done so many times as children.
