Weston’s RNLI lifeboat was all set to launch this morning (Saturday) after three people were spotted on the off-limits Birnbeck Island.

The RNLI was alerted at 11.35am, but the call came at low tide and the three were spotted making their way back from the island across the shingle.

Members of Weston Coastguard Rescue Team were waiting to meet them ashore to offer a advice.

An RNLI spokesman said: “Members of the public should be reminded that the island remains private property and is a very dangerous place to try and visit for a variety of reasons.”
