Four youngsters had accessed the private island despite the inherent danger.

Avon and Somerset Constabulary joined Weston-super-Mare Coastguard to rescue the teens.

A spokesman for the police said the four ‘breached the gates of Birnbeck Pier and trespassed on the pier’.

They added: “Fortunately no-one was injured on this occasion but please understand this is a restricted and dangerous area.”
