Homemade crafts and items were sold in aid of one of Weston’s best-loved sites.

The Birnbeck Regeneration Trust put on a Christmas fair at the weekend to raise money for the ailing pier.

Goods carved from wood, made from paper and knitted were on sale for those who like to buy their stocking-fillers nice and early.

The event was held at the Boulevard United Reformed Church, in Weston’s Waterloo Street, on November 3.

Lots of people headed to the venue to pick up a bargain or two.

Proceeds from the sale will help the charitable trust in its work to save Birnbeck Pier.

The historic structure – which is the only pier in the world to jut out to an island – has been closed to the public since the 1990s and is classed as ‘at risk’ of collapse.
