Residents received handy tips ahead of the winter

BLAGDON’S Safe and Warm event had a healthy turnout as more than 40 residents went to hear useful tips on how to stay warm over the winter.

The event, organised by the North Somerset Affordable Warmth Partnership, was hosted by Avon Fire and Rescue at their station in the village on October 27.

Residents got tips on how to reduce fuel bills and carbon emissions and travel sustainably, as well as taking up the opportunity to have their electric blankets tested.

Ten home safety visits were requested at the event, with the visits including home fire safety advice from the fire service and the fitting of free smoke alarms with ten-year batteries.

The next Safe and Warm day will take place in the reception area of Somerset House, Oxford Street, Weston on Thursday between 10am-2pm.

For further information about the services on offer and future events, please contact Kim Herivel, Home Energy Efficiency Officer at the council on 01934 426686 or by emailing
