HOTELS in Weston have scooped awards for the high standard of their gardens.

The Hotel and Restaurants Association handed out its annual garden awards to two hotels.

Nitsa Michael at the The Seaward Hotel in Knighstone Road scooped the prize for the best large garden, while Victoria Southwood of Doubleton Farm by the A370 in Hewish won the gong for best small garden.

The large garden runner up was Rose Cunningham of the Woolpack Inn in St Georges while the Highlea Hotel in Upper Church Road took the second prize for small gardens.

Upper Church Road hotels also took a collective prize for best decorated street due to the hanging baskets and flower beds along the road.

Judging was done using anonymous photographs to avoid bias.
