Green-fingered volunteers have spent many hours tidying up Congresbury in recent weeks.

Blooming Congresbury members their hands dirty to tackle the mess left behind as the seasons have shifted, removing bags of weeds and leaves.

Parish council chairman Di Hassan thanked Blooming Congresbury for its clean-up effort.

She said: “It makes such a difference especially now that autumn is coming and our roads and pavements are becoming littered with fallen leaves.”

After the success of the clean-up, Cllr Hassan hopes more villagers will take part in future.

She added: “We would ask all residents to look beyond their own gardens and sweep up the pavement outside their house, removing fallen leaves, weeds and litter.

“This not only improves the appearance of the village but will also stop the gullies and drains getting blocked and help to prevent flooding.”
