Permission has been granted for a blue plaque to be installed on a listed building in Weston-super-Mare.

Weston Town Council is in the process of installing 13 plaques around the town, with four already in place.

North Somerset Council has agreed a plaque dedicated to architect Hans Fowler Price can be installed on the former School of Science and Art, in Lower Church Road, which is owned by Weston College.

The building is grade-II listed, and the town council therefore needed planning consent to go ahead.

The building is one of many designed by Mr Price, with others including the Wadham Street Baptist Church, which is now the Blakehay Theatre, and the Mercury office in Waterloo Street.

Plaques for Olympian Paulo Radmilovic, the town’s first mayor Henry Butt, author Roald Dahl and artist Alfred Leete are already in place following a vote in the Mercury.
