YOUNGSTERS are celebrating victory in their campaign to get a derelict BMX track restored.Frustrated young people in Yatton and Claverham collected 50 signatures for a petition to bring the track in Hangstones playing field in Yatton up to scratch. The petition was handed to Yatton Parish Council on Monday and the authority quickly came up with a plan to get BMX riders back on track. The council has appointed a specialist who will redesign and landscape the track, which has become overgrown with brambles, and create new dirt jumps.Local plant hire firm Plantforce has also offered to hire out the required machinery free of charge. Its offer will help reduce the cost of the revamp to £800.The petition was handed over to the council's amenities and properties committee and councillors voted unanimously to support the scheme.
