A boat and trailer were pulled to safety yesterday (Wednesday) after getting stuck in the mud on Burnham-on-Sea beach.

The town’s BARB Search and Rescue team were called to the incident at 2.30pm after the 4x4 got stuck while trying to launch the boat by the jetty.

A spokesman for BARB said: “The wheels of the trailer had sunk into the mud and soft sand, and the owner had tried unsuccessfully to pull it free with his 4x4.

“One of our trucks was used to winch the trailer and boat out of the sea and up onto the beach.

“The owners were very grateful of our help and made a kind donation towards BARB’s work.”
