The body of a woman found in the water near Knightstone Island, in Weston-super-Mare, last month has been formally identified by a coroner.

The coroner confirmed the woman was 57-year-old Jill Follows, of Alma Street in Weston.

Her body was pulled from the water at around 5pm on December 27. Emergency services attempted to revive her, but were unsuccessful.

A spokesman for Avon Coroner’s Court told the Mercury the inquest opened yesterday (Monday) where she was formally identified, but a post mortem could not confirm a cause of death.

The case has been adjourned to March 28 at noon.
