A two-year-old boy is closer to getting his own personalised prosthetic leg after more than £250 was raised at a charity book sale.

Irving Prowse hosted a book sale and bric-a-brac fair in Congresbury War Memorial Hall, in High Street, after hearing the heart warming story of Finley Williams and his family, who are raising money to get the ‘joyful’ toddler a prosthetic leg tailor-made to fit him.

The campaign, which originally set out to raise £6,500, has now collected more than £9,000.

The event took place on Saturday and people from both the village and further afield popped in to browse the books and helped him raise £255.70.

Mr Prowse said: “On behalf of Finley Williams and his parents Katie and Jake, I would like to thank all who generously supported the special book sale.”
