BORIS Johnson visited Burnham-on-Sea yesterday to show his support for prospective Conservative parliamentary candidate for Wells James Heappey.

The mayor of London and prospective parliamentary candidate for Uxbridge and South Ruislip visited BARB Search and Rescue yesterday (Wednesday) and got to fly on its hovercraft.

Mr Johnson was greeted by a crowd of locals keen to ask him questions about the general election.

BARB’s chairman, Mark Newman, said: “We have been really honoured to have had him here it is really great to see his support of our work and our volunteers.”

Mr Johnson said: “Burnham-on-Sea is a great, great resort and I can see why people want to come here. But there is risk and BARB do a fantastic job.”
