A RESTAURANT chain which was refused permission to create a stylish new place to eat in Weston has submitted a new application.

In July, Bristol-based Bottelinos was told it could not transform John Hodge Solicitors in the Boulevard into a new eaterie. The scheme also included the construction of 14 flats.

Concerns were raised by residents that the planned four-storey extension at the back of the building and a two-storey one at the side, would have a negative impact on people living nearby.

Now Bottelinos, which has a chain of restaurants in the South West, has submitted new proposals to convert the prominent solicitors’ offices into a restaurant, office and 14 flats.

If the plans are given the green light the revamp would also include a single storey rear extension and low level courtyard. The current extensions to the eastern side of the building would also be demolished.

Restaurant bosses have also said they would like the business hours to be 10am-11pm, seven days a week.

An application by John Hodge Solicitors to turn the site into 24 flats with a recreational area was dismissed by a Government inspector in July 2005.
