A Weston-super-Mare primary school has launched a sponsorship appeal as pupils’ safety could be at risk.
Bournville Primary School, in Selworthy Road, is calling on businesses to help sponsor its lollipop lady, Sharon North, for the next academic year once Mercedes Benz Weston’s deal runs out.
MORE: Plea for school crossing patrol.
The school has been reliant on the sponsorship of businesses since September 2016 when North Somerset Council withdrew its funding for school crossing patrols.
Laura Elmont, the school’s administrator, said: “Keeping our roads safe for the children and parents of our community is of paramount importance.
“We desperately want to secure the future of our crossing patrol for the next academic year from September and are desperate for alternative funding.”
Any business interested in sponsoring the school’s crossing patrol can call 01934 427130 or email office@extendlearning.org
