BOLLARDS are to be put up at a town centre car park which turned into a meeting place for boy racers.Barriers will be put up at the entrance to the Locking Road car park each night so drivers have to pay a fee to enter. The system is being installed in a bid to put the brakes on boy racers who have been meeting at the massive car park. The barriers will only work at night so motorists will be able to get into the car park as normal during the day.Work was expected to start this week on the new system and it is expected to be finished by the end of the month. Improved lighting and a new bus shelter are also being installed as part of the work.Next year, landscaping work will be carried out in the £120,000 North Somerset Council scheme which is being funded from several sources including the South West Regional Development Agency. The Weston & Somerset Mercury revealed last October that the car park, which is used by hundreds of office workers during the day, had become a haven for prostitutes, boy racers and drug dealers at night.
