A 36-YEAR-OLD man who was left brain damaged after a fight in Weston has regained consciousness but is unable to speak.Lee Goodwin, of Grasmere Drive on the Bournville estate, was set upon by a group of men in Bar Shallus in Regent Street on June 11. He was taken to Weston General Hospital unconscious and although he is still in intensive care he is now conscious and in a stable condition.A rumour had spread that Mr Goodwin, who has a 10-year-old daughter, had died and his family received a card sending condolences. His sister Sian Goodwin said: "Lee's eyes roll around and he moves his arms, but whether he knows he's moving himself we don't know."We doubt he'll be able to speak again. With lots of physiotherapy he might, but we are talking years not months. But we are a young family. If it takes 20 years, so be it."People are all being so kind. Customers at one pub cheered when they found out he wasn't dead.
