Four men will attempt to break the world record for a team cycle event next month.

Karl Burkett, from Highbridge, has organised the challenge and says while fundraising has been successful so far, they still need help with some of the logistics.

The ride will start at John O’Groats in Scotland and finish at Lands End, which stretches just short of 900 miles.

Each rider will take on a 49-mile stint, before handing over to the next person.

The target time for this relay to break the record is 48 hours or less.

The team – which also includes Ollie Taylor, Steve Clark and Tim Clark from Scotland, are set to take on the challenge on June 23, starting at 10.30am.

Karl said: “We are still in need of a support car, which is a vital part of the event. “
