WORLE High Street will be closed for the next three Sundays.

The area will be shut for work to be carried out on improving road safety measures along the route.

Moving one of the bus shelters, putting in new drop kerbs and moving one of the zebra crossings are among the measures to be implemented, at a cost of about £86,000.

The council's planning chief, Elfan Ap Rees, says the cash for the work came from the cuts from the West of England Road Safety Partnership's budget last year.

The whole of the High Street will be shut to traffic from 8am-6pm for the work, which was originally planned for November, to be carried out.
