A FISHERMAN who may have fallen off Birnbeck Pier has been named by police.
Alan Wright, aged 26, was last seen near the pier in Weston where he planned to go fishing on Thursday.
He had arranged to be picked up at 3.30pm at the same location but did not turn up.
Alan has a green Celtic band tattoo on his upper right arm and was wearing black jeans and a long dark coloured jacket. He also had a pair of green waist-height green waders.
Two people witnessed a fisherman being washed into the sea at Birnbeck Island at around 4.35pm on Thursday. This coincided with reports of Alan being missing.
The police helicopter and coastguard crews have been searching the area. Anyone with information is urged to call Weston police on 0845 456 7000.
