BREAKING NEWS: Murder investigation launched as man dies

A MURDER investigation has been launched following the death of a 26-year-old Weston man.

Paul Birch, of Alfred Street died in Frenchay Hospital, Bristol, yesterday (Sat) after sustaining a serious head injury on Tuesday evening.

An investigation has been launched and a 37-year-old man from Weston has been arrested on suspicion of murder.

He is now in custody and is being interviewed about the incident.

It is thought the injury may have been caused during an incident in a doorway in Alfred Street at about 7.30pm on Tuesday.

Detective Chief Inspector Simon Crisp said: “At this stage we believe Paul’s death is suspicious and we have arrested a man on suspicion of murder.

“I would appeal to anyone who was in the area at the time and may have seen or heard anything to come forward.”
