More than 30 volunteers grabbed their litter pickers and helped clean Brean beach last weekend.

Holiday Resort Unity (HRU) held its first beach clean to support Litter Free Coast and Sea Somerset.

The group followed in the footsteps of nearby Berrow, who also hosted its inaugural beach clean earlier in March.

The tidy was the first of several schemes which HRU will be implementing this year, with the support of Community Coastal Officer for Somerset, Tanya Cox.

Debbie Matthews, a member of HRU’s marketing team, said: “We would like to thank everyone who came down to join us for the beach clean. “The majority of people I spoke to were surprised at the amount of litter there actually is on the beach. It was also great to hear people are really keen for us to do this again.”
