A village’s Post Office faces an uncertain future as Royal Mail has been unable to find a replacement postmaster.
Brean Post Office, in Church Road, closed temporarily on September 29 and people have been urged to use the counter at McColl’s convenience shop, in South Road, instead.
A Post Office spokesman said: “We would like to apologise for any inconvenience caused by the temporary closure of Brean Post Office following the resignation of the postmaster.
“We understand how important a Post Office is to the community and would like to reassure customers we are working hard to restore permanent services to them as soon as possible.”
Post offices across the Mercury patch have shut or had their services reduced this year - the unit on Weston’s Oldmixon estate was scaled down in May, Highbridge’s store closed in August while in January Berrow Parish Councillors voted in favour of its Post Office being converted to a home.
