Bricks and rubble fall on popular footpath

PEDESTRIANS in a North Somerset village may have noticed a pile of rubble where a wall once stood.
The lane connecting Littlefields Road with West Street in Banwell is popular and frequently used by residents to access the main street.
But the stone wall which runs down one side of the lane has partially collapsed, leading to concerns about the safety of the route.
A spokesman for North Somerset Council, which is responsible for ensuring the safety of public footpaths, said: “We told the owner about the poor condition of this wall last year and later served a notice on the owner asking for it to be made safe.
“One of our inspectors called at site on Monday and spoke to a builder acting on behalf of the owner. The fallen stones will be removed from the footpath and the owner spoken to in order to get the section of wall in question repaired.”
