Action group ‘marshalling its forces’ ahead of housing appeal

Congresbury residents are calling for a housing appeal to be heard in the village to ensure all villagers can have their say on housing plans.
Strongvox Homes wants to build 24 homes east of Brinsea Road, but its plans were torn up by North Somerset Council earlier this year – deeming the site was unsustainable and out of reach of primary services.
The developer has launched an appeal for the Planning Inspectorate to overturn the council’s decision, but Congresbury Residents’ Action Group (CRAG) is calling for the hearing to be heard in the village rather than Weston Town Hall.
A spokesman said the action group is ‘marshalling its forces to defend the village from another inappropriate development scheme’.
They added: “CRAG wants the hearing to take place in Congresbury so that residents will be able to listen to the arguments without having to travel to Weston Town Hall where planning inquiries have traditionally taken place.”
