Bug city springs up in Grove Park
PUBLISHED: 15:00 03 June 2018
A project in a Weston-super-Mare park to encourage nature and make it a nicer place to visit is well underway.
The Friends of Grove Park group was set up in 2016 as volunteers felt the park had been neglected.
It has received almost £11,000 in funding to build a nature reserve in the park, in High Street, and create some bug palaces to encourage nature to the area.
The Friends have worked alongside Osprey Outdoors, a community group which uses nature to help disadvantaged adults learn new skills, to build a bug city and a smaller bug hotel.
Volunteer Johnny Boxshall said: “We are always looking for more volunteers to become involved, especially anybody who may like to take an administrative kind of role and even more people who may be keen to work on funding.”
The Friends will host two community days to work on the bug hotels on June 29 and 30. More details will be available closer to the time.
