Bumper turnout for village’s fundraising duck race

Dozens of villagers turned out to enjoy one of their village’s most popular festive traditions on Boxing Day.
People in Banwell flocked to the Brewer’s Arms pub in Church Street to enjoy a punt on the annual duck race, held to raise funds for the village’s scout group.
The event saw hundreds of yellow plastic ducks emptied into the Banwell River, for a race down the waterway.
Onlookers cheered on their own entrants in the hope that their own numbered duck would be the first to cross the finish line to land them a prize.
Then, of course, it was time for an equally-popular part of the tradition, when the crowds adjourned to the Brewer’s Arms for a much-appreciated post-race tipple or two.
