Police are appealing for witnesses after a man was assaulted last night (Sunday).

The incident took place at 11.30pm in College Street in Burnham-on-Sea opposite Abbott and Frost estate agents after two men were approached by a group of men who demanded money.

One victim was attacked and suffered a head injury.

An area around a discarded red towel was taped off by police this morning.

Several car parking bays were closed and commuters were redirected.

A police spokesman said: “If anyone saw this incident or has any information please call the non-emergency number 101 and quote the crime reference 5218202778.”
