A Burnham-on-Sea care home has been told it ‘requires improvement’ by the Care Quality Commission (CQC).

Burnham Lodge Nursing Home, in Berrow Road, was told its services were safe and caring, but concerns were raised over its responsiveness and effectiveness.

The care home caters for adults over the age of 65 who require nursing or personal care, treatment of disease, disorder or injury.

Inspectors said the ‘care plans in relation to people’s social, emotional and spiritual needs require improvements’.

Home manager Lyndsay Hammond said: “Improvements have been made since our last report but myself and my staff are disappointed with our overall rating.

“We recently sent out a relative feedback questionnaire and had very positive responses.

“We will continue to work hard to make this a nice environment for all our residents.”
