Avon and Somerset police have arrested a man on suspicion of assault in Burnham-on-Sea.

The incident took place outside the S&A Linens shop, in High Street, on March 4, at about 8.15pm.

A 19-year-old man has been arrested after a 60-year-old man suffered a head injury and was taken to Musgrove Park Hospital for treatment on a cut which required stitches.

A spokesman for the police said: “A 19-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of assault following an incident in High Street, Burnham, on March 4.

“He has been released on bail, pending further enquiries.”

Police are also looking into damage inside the shop, which closed in January 2017 and has been unused since, with a scientific investigation team continuing to work there.
