A man on a mobility scooter who was hit by a car yesterday (Thursday) has died.

Emergency services were called to reports of an incident in Adam Street, in Burnham-on-Sea, yesterday morning.

The male driver, in his 80s, was taken to Southmead Hospital after he suffered a head injury and chest pains.

Police are appealing for witnesses after a car crashed into the man.

PC Fyfe, from Avon and Somerset collision investigation unit, said: “At about 11.50am, a Nissan Navara was travelling along Oxford Street and having turned into Adam Street, was in collision with the man who was on his mobility scooter.

“The gentleman, in his 80s, was taken to hospital but sadly died later that day.

“We’d like to speak to anyone who may have witnessed the incident.”
