Volunteers have received a funding boost of more than £2,000 from a South West contractor.

Burnham RNLI was presented with a cheque for £2,201 by Costain, who focus on jetty work at Hinkley Point C.

Costain has a charity-supporting productivity bonus scheme for donations, which will go towards training costs and updating equipment.

Lifeboat operations manager Matt Davies said: “We welcome the continuing RNLI sponsorship from Costain.

“Training is very important both for our crews and those who we rescue.”

Burnham’s RNLI branch is currently looking for volunteers who would be available during the day and live or work close to the station, in Pier Street.

Regular training will be provided.

Those interested can pop into the lifeboat station after a Wednesday training session at 7pm.
