Burnham-on-Sea’s Apex Park hosted an apple day which involved apple-pressing, crafts and games.

Sedgemoor District Council’s ecologist Pete Grainger taught youngsters at the event how to press the apples and pasteurise the juice, which was later tasted by the children who worked hard to produce it.

Pete then gave a guided walk through the small orchard at Apex Park, advising on how to prune the trees for maximum yield in next year’s crop.

The council’s health and wellbeing team were also on hand to support the event and share some interesting apple facts, as well as advise on the health benefits of eating a balanced diet.

A district council spokesman said: “We were blessed with the weather and it was great to see so many children and families enjoying themselves.”
