BURNHAM’S scout group raised £500 through a raffle to send much-needed aid to disaster-hit countries around the world.

The group raised enough money through selling tickets for top prizes such as £100 in cash and restaurant meals, that they can buy a Shelterbox, a big green box with dozens of items of life-saving equipment inside.

Having been busy on different projects such as giant sleepovers and a special summer challenge to raise money after the group’s partnership with Shelterbox began in 2009, the group’s box is now ready to be sent to any country requiring emergency aid equipment.

After the raffle draw on December 16, leader Mandy Williams said: “What a great gift to be able to give someone - a huge green box with life saving items in.”
