Weston-super-Mare’s coastguard had its busiest year on record during 2016.

The coastguard was called out 118 times, with incidents varying from people stuck in the mud on the beach, searches for missing people and cliff rescues.

Its incidents also included people putting their lives at risk by the sea while playing the Pokémon Go! game.

Some of its call-outs in 2016 include rescuing a woman who fell part-way down a cliff.

The team also had to order nearly 20 people away from Weston seafront when huge waves were spilling over the defences.

They were then involved in a late-night search for two people spotted in the sea.
