AN EMPTY shop in Weston town centre has become the latest outlet for a popular charity.
Weston Hospicecare has housed a new shop at the former Roseby's site, bringing the total the organisation has in the town to eight.
The new store means that charity bosses now have a total of 12 across the area, with four in outlying villages of Cheddar, Winscombe, Congresbury and Burnham.
The move means that there will be one less empty unit in the town centre.
The charity's retail controller, Peter Boyer, said: "It is a great move for us and we are grateful to the landlords.
"This does not affect any of our existing businesses."
The new store has added three new employees to the payroll, two of them full-time positions.
However, Mr Boyer added the shop will be temporary fixture on a three-month contract until the landlords can find a new permanent tenant.
Roseby's went into administration last November as the credit crunch took hold and forced closures of other Weston stores, such as Woolworths.
The unit is located o the corner of Regent Street and High Street.
