A GREYHOUND has proved popular with residents at a care home in Weston.

The gentle canine, named Molly, has been visiting Walliscote Manor Residential Home each week to provide an element of comfort for the senior citizens.

The dog is brought in each Thursday for four hours and for those who are interested they can pat and play with her in a quiet lounge area.

Manager Valerie Boyce said: "It is such a wonderful thing which many of our residents love.

"They don't have that physical tactile contact so when Molly comes in it is fun and a bit different.

"We call her a pat dog as that's what we do, pat her.

"We once had a tortoise but that didn't quite work as well but Molly is a welcome addition."

Valerie said there are no further plans for other animals at the moment but would love for one of the beach donkeys to be brought up for the residents to see at some point.
