A BANWELL couple who always dreamed of running their own pub have delighted their neighbours by buying their local.

Gary White, aged 31, and Karly Ivison, 30, of Westfield Road, have big plans now they have re-opened the Bell, in The Square, West Street.

After taking it over the pair have completely redecorated, put in plasma screen TVs with Sky Sports and are interviewing chefs to provide home-cooked food.

The couple, who have three children, also plan to install a play area after identifying a need in the village.

Gary said: "We plan to have theme evenings like a Halloween party, curry and steak nights and we're having an Ann Summers party tomorrow night (Fri).

"And we hope to have an official opening on October 10.

"We have always wanted our own pub so we bought our local because we love the people who come here and the previous owners seemed to be neglecting the place which wasn't nice to see.

"We want to restore it to its former glory.
