A MONTHLY auction which also raises money for charity has been set up in Axbridge.
Former mayor Baz Hamblin has always been interested in antiques, with a particular interest in military memorabilia. He said: “I have always gone to auctions. I love the atmosphere of them. In the past I have run many charity auctions and felt this was an opportunity to do something I really enjoy.”
Each month, the proceeds from the first lots will go to charity. Baz said: “In the next auction we will be selling a vase found in the vestry of the Methodist Church and the money raised will go towards repairs to the building.
“This is a good way to help the community at the same time as running a business.”
George House auctions are held on the third Saturday of each month at the Axbridge bypass. The next auction will be held on May 18 at 11am, with viewings starting from 9am.
