Broadband race launched

BRITISH Telecom is calling on Somerset communities to compete in a race for super-fast broadband.

Households and businesses in the county will be able to demonstrate local demand for super-fast fibre broadband by taking part in a nationwide BT survey, run as a competition called the Race to Infinity.

Communities in the race include Burnham, Axbridge, Wedmore, Cheddar, Brent Knoll, Mark Moor and Brean Down.

People can vote for their area at until December 31 and BT will upgrade the five UK exchanges with the highest demand by 2012.
