A NATIONAL discount giant is set to move into a shop front in Weston’s High Street.

Poundland will move into the former Ethel Austin store on May 26 from their current, smaller, premises further down the same street.

The female clothing store ceased trading on March 5, having taken over from Woolworths, which closed in 2009.

Town Centre Partnership manager Steve Townsend said: “I’m really happy that one of our members has gone into a bigger premises, but I also think it’s a shame that Primark weren’t interested because when we do surveys in the town centre people often say they would like to see a Primark here.”
