PLANS to build a chemist shop next to Burnham's medical centre have been reinstated after the planning inspectorate overturned the original rejection.
Sedgemoor District councillors had originally objected on the grounds that it would create traffic safety issues and hurt the trade of the town’s existing chemists.
Burnham Medical Centre had already appealed against the council’s rejection, and the Planning Inspectorate’s Chris Tipping has ruled in their favour after rejecting the councillors’ concerns.
Chemist chain Day Lewis will now shut its branch in the town’s Regent Street, and relocate to the new site next to the surgery in Love Lane, with building work expected to start early next year.
