A MAP is being made of Weston to advertise businesses and direct new visitors around the town.

Perin Alexander, aged 32, is drafting a version of the fold-up map and is seeking out sponsorship from firms in the town.

Along with his mother Elaine Alexander, aged 67, the Birnbeck Road resident says he hopes at least 200,000 copies of the map will be on sale in kiosks by July.

He said: "The map is designed to be easy to use and offer a cross-section of the most useful businesses, landmarks and attractions in the area.

"It will be most handy for people who are on the go and want to know exactly what's around them."

The maps are likely to be sold for 2 each, with Mr Alexander promising 1 of proceeds from each sale going to Children In Need.
