TEN youngsters hoping to become beauty therapist are looking for businesses in Clevedon and Portishead to offer them apprenticeships.

The Business Enterprise Centre at Weston College is asking companies to employ the youngsters through its apprenticeship scheme.

Hayley McKinstry, work-based co-ordinator for the centre, said: "Businesses can benefit from taking on apprentices in many ways including through improved productivity, higher standards and competitiveness.

"Apprenticeships equip people with the skills and knowledge they need to do their jobs better, and because they are motivated by the training they receive they work harder and more effectively."

Apprenticeships are work-based training programmes and anyone over 16 can sign up to the programme.

All apprenticeship training will lead to nationally recognised qualifications designed to meet industry standards.

Tuition fees for eligible adults are paid for by Government funding.
