A NORTH Somerset businessman has set up a website to help people save money during the recession.

Wick St Lawrence resident Jason Smith has launched an internet portal that provides links to other pages offering money off codes for online shopping.

Jason, who studied at what was then known as Broadoak School, says he hopes to help Weston people get a better deal throughout the financial difficulties.

The 38-year-old said: "The more people that use it, the more money is saved and everybody wins.

"Being from the town, it's great to know that I could be helping Weston people to get through the credit crunch."

Links to savings codes on websites such as Tesco, Dixons and House of Fraser are available on the site, which is updated every two or three days.

For each referral from the website, Jason receives a small commission.

The Juniper Place resident is an Internet entrepreneur who runs other websites and once staged a Star Wars and Doctor Who convention at the Winter Gardens.

The site has been live for five weeks and has already received acclaim from financial expert Martin Lewis.
