A North Somerset pub could close its doors for good tonight (Thursday) after it was sold by owners Greene King.

The Lord Nelson, in Main Road, Cleeve has been serving residents for nearly 200 years, but Greene King has confirmed the pub will close from tomorrow (Friday).

The pub – which operates under Hungry Horse branding – was put up for sale in September with an asking price of £625,000.

Rumours suggest the building has been bought by developers, and will cease trading as a pub.

A Greene King spokesman said: “Following the difficult decision taken to put the Lord Nelson on the market, we can confirm that the pub has now been sold and its last day of trading will be today.

“The team there have done a fantastic job and we are working with them to find alternative roles within our estate wherever possible.”
