Dolphin Square plan gets town support

MULTI-MILLION pound plans to regenerate a tired shopping precinct in Weston have received ‘overwhelming’ support.
Developers McLaren Life say more than 90 per cent of people who attended a two-day exhibition on the plan backed the idea.
About 100 people examined details behind the £35million proposal to knock down the square and replace it with a mixed retail and leisure unit last month.
It would include a cinema, hotel and line-up of High Street shops.
Director Simon Berry said: “We are obviously delighted that people were so positive about the Dolphin Square proposals.
“The one thing that came across loud and clear was the need to get this project completed because people felt the area needed regenerating.”
Mr Berry said all comments were now being looked at before a planning application would be submitted by Christmas.
